Volkswagen factory with a new 13.2 MW solar installation.  Quanta Energy has completed the construction of one of the largest on-site photovoltaic farms in Europe. The energy produced by 22,800 photovoltaic modules will be entirely used for self-consumption.

„We are proud to partner with Volkswagen on this ambitious project. This initiative aligns with the broader context of energy transition in the automotive industry.  Our collaboration will not only contribute to carbon footprint reduction but also significantly lower energy costs for our partner,” said Piotr Grzybczak, CEO of Quanta Energy.

The uniqueness of this endeavor lies in both the scale of the work and the time frame of its execution.  The construction work at the Volkswagen plant in Września lasted only six months and included the construction of a 310-ton structure and the connection of 102 km of cables. The entire installation covers an area equivalent to 26 football fields.

The excellent cooperation between Volkswagen Poznan and Quanta Energy is best evidenced by the fact that the joint decarbonization process will continue.  The construction of a second photovoltaic installation is set to begin soon. The new solar farm will have a capacity of 3.1 MW and will cover an area of 4.27 hectares. Quanta Energy will again be the investor and main contractor.

The construction of both farms are financed by the Solas Sustainable Energy Fund ICAV.
